What's in a name anyway? To some, "Guintubdan" sounds strange rather than familiar, even to many of our Hiligaynon brethren. Well, who else could describe it better except those residing in the place. To them, the name was coined after the word “tubod”, which means flowing water. The word Guintubdan means source of water. The name fits well, considering the abundant flow of water coming out from the many springs of the place. In fact, water is sweeter in this side of the La Carlota.

Guintubdan is a Sitio of Barangay Ara-al. It is situated at the eastern most part of the city. A few years back, the place was rather inaccessible compared to other barrios of the city. But after the construction of the cemented roads going to the place, it is now but a mere 30 minutes ride from the city proper.

Guintubdan is smaller compared to other tourist spots in the province. But with many natural features it offers such as waterfalls, scenic views, and many other spell-binding attractions, people who have gone to the place could say that it truly healed their spirits. It is a refuge to those who seek peace. A sanctuary to those who wish to escape the harsh life in the cities.

Once in you're in Guintubdan, you can do a lot of exciting things. You may take a hike to explore the virgin forest, to marvel at the scenic views of the mountains, to wonder what's behind the huge stones, and to delight in the beauty of the flowers.

In Guintubdan the water is cold. The ambience, captivating. After some chatting and munching, you may take a rest for a while, and take a plunge in the cold, clear water. But don't stay long in the water, or you'll surely freeze.

Well, if you just want to completely relax, you may go there and simply do nothing at all. You just sit awhile , listen to the sounds of the birds, and watch the never ending flow of the water. Believe us, going to Guintubdan will definitely take all you worries away.
