The Heroism of Dr. Jose P. Rizal Recalled
The Kababaihang Rizalista Inc. - La Carlota and the city government led the celebration of the 115th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal on December 30, 2011. The occasion was attended by government employees, private and public schools, groups and representatives from the religious institutions, business establishments, and non-government organizations.
The guest speaker was Hon. Karen L. Aguirre, Chairman of the SP Committee on Education. In her message she said that it caused the valuable life of Dr. Jose Rizal just to give us freedom from the chain of oppression. She also encouraged the public to do heroic acts in their own little ways. She also expressed gratefulness to Dr. Jose Rizal for building the bridge of freedom for the Filipino people. On the other hand, Lady Marilou G. Aguirre, the Kababaihang Rizalista president remarked that Filipinos should guard the country’s heritage.
The program was highlighted with nationalistic and cultural songs, floral offering and was capped by a community singing of “Heaven Watch the Philippines”.
