4 Ps Launched at La Carlota City

     The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) or the Conditional Cash Transfer Program which is one of the pro-poor responses of the government to the challenge of meeting the Millennium Development Goals was initiated in the city last December 7, 2011. The project was made possible through the efforts of Cong. Jeffrey P. Ferrer who made representation to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Manila. Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer welcomed the personnel of the agency headed by Mrs. Maricel Robles, Social Welfare Officer III, Region 6, Iloilo City.

     The 4Ps provides conditional cash privileges to qualified beneficiaries in the form of Health and Nutrition Grant of P6,000 per year or P500 per month per household and P3,000 per year or P300 per month per child for 10 months to a maximum of three (3) children per household.

     Registration to screen legitimate recipients was held for two days which also included a thorough briefing and questions and answers sessions. The total applicants/beneficiaries were as follows:

     4Ps, according to DSWD, was patterned after the Conditional Cash Transfer program in Latin America and the Caribbean which proved successful as a poverty reduction and social development measure.
