
LCCC Celebrates its 45th Year
The La Carlota City College celebrated its 45th Founding Anniversary on November 21-26, 2011. Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer extended her best wishes to the founders, faculty, and staff of the college for the significant occasion when she spoke at the Founder's Day Thanksgiving Convocation on November 24. She said that her administration is extending priority attention to education by implementing projects. She cited the P3M award received by the city government for Good Housekeeping which was utilized for the improvements and construction of new buildings for the school.
Atty. Mercedes K. Alvarez, Representative, 6th District of Negros Occidental was the guest speaker. In her message, she recalled the deeds of the young Filipino heroes and leaders who fought for freedom. She said that when our country is in times of survival, it needs the best and the brightest of our youth to be in the front line for building our nation. She thanked the founders of the City College for their dream to build an institution which has trained students to make a difference in the development of the city.
Other guests who graced the affair were SP members, Karen L. Aguirre, Rex R. Jalando-on, Luis J. Jalandoni III, Ciriaco D. Sia, Jr., Julian M. Chiang, Jacob E. Liansing, Jaime Manuel H. MariƱo, Annabelle Q. Bermudo, Manuel R. Badillo and ABC President Francisco D. Oplas and Dr. Hernani J. Jimenez, one of the founders of the LCCC.
The groundbreaking at the construction site of a three-classroom building at the Cubay campus was held followed by the unveiling of the Cyber Center 2, and later by Cyber Center 1 at the main campus.
Aimed at promoting enhanced access to computer education, the computer labs are funded through the assistance of Cong. Jeffrey P. Ferrer - Representative, 4th District.
