
1,054 Day Care Children
To Avail of Supplemental Feeding
Ninety-four participants comprising the day care workers and the parents groups from 14 barangays of La Carlota City Attended the supplemental feeding program orientation held on November 21, 2011 at the city social hall. The project was implemented by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region VI in a joint undertaking with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) - La Carlota. Funded from a P1.3 M budget, a total of 1,054 children in 30 day care centers will benefit from the project for 120 days. This is in line with the Millennium Development Goal I to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger and PD 491 which gives priority to integrated nutrition program to be implemented by all branches of the government.
Supplemental feeding is aimed at providing healthy nutrition to children beneficiaries by preparing indigenous and locally processed food rich in iron, iodine, and other vitamin-enriched food.
Julia Uy, CSWDO head welcomed the participants and thanked them for their willingness to implement the program. Jeffrey E. Rumbines, City Accountant presented the administrative requirements for the availment of fund while Ma. Elena Espartero, CSWDO IV gave the program mechanics.
