LCPA MUSE WINS PASALAMAT FESTIVAL ’08 CROWN

         Sixteen year-old Jelliane Rose Dinurog who represented the La Carlota Planters’ Association (LCPA) now under the new management of Bonifacio M. Peña clinched the title of Pasalamat Queen 2008 of La Carlota City besting 19 other beauties in an evening of pageantry and overflowing crowd that dared torrential rains. She was crowned by 4th Dist. Cong. Jeffrey P. Ferrer and Atty. Juliet Marie D. Ferrer with Mayor Demie John C. Honrado, who was with wife Donna. Aside from the royal diadem the new title holder also romped away with the awards as Best in Swimsuit and as Miss Talent reaping a total prize of P17,000.00 and additional complementary awards.

         Vice Mayor David T. Baga, Jr. and wife Dorle, SP members Luis J. Jalandoni III, Rosalinda L. Aguirre, Ruel G. Alvañez, Ciriaco D. Sia, Jr., Jose Luis Miguel C. Sicangco IV, Jacob E. Liansing and Erwin B. Ponce, Jr. also honored the winners by giving them their awards. Guests and visitors included sponsors of the title aspirants, admirers, their friends and supporters.

         Special guests and judges of the beauty contest were Raymund Fuentes, Christer Marie Taclobos, John Herrera, Riza Baylon, Eng’r. Vernon Lagman and Ms. Riza Baylon. Hosts for the pageant were singer and concert queen Pops Fernandez who also rendered two vocal numbers, and John Arceo.

         For major awards, the first runner-up was Jay-Ann Empleo of Brgy. I-Pob.-Hon. Jose Luis A. Jalandoni. She received a cash prize of P10,000.00. Second runner-up went to Lizavill Garde, the candidate of Brgy. RSB-Hon. Jacob E. Liansing who earned P 5,000.00.

         Other special awards went to Kirsty Einosas of Brgy. La Granja and AALCPI as Best Festival Costume; Jennelyn Raynon of LCCEMPC – Noel Gamilla, as Miss Friendship; Maolen Saldavia of Brgy. Nagasi, William Chua and Jon. Jacky Jalandoni as Miss Photogenic; and Danica Marie Ditchon of Brgy. Batuan and 4th Engineering District as Best in Crown. They Each received P 2,000.00. Recognized as the Designer of the Best Festival Costume was Rod Mabunay who also got P 2,000.00. Their awards also included a sash, trophy, and a bouquet.

         The Miss NN Princess was Lizavill Garde, Maolen N. Saldavia as Miss PLDT, and Marie L. Kinjho as Miss Natasha Cosmetics. All the 20 contestants received various presents: free travel tickets, beauty kits, sim packs and certificates of appreciation from sponsors and benefactors PLDT, InkMaxx, Natasha Cosmetics, EMCOR, Ting-Ting’s, Paradiso Beach Resort and Sunpride.

         Those who assisted the city officials in giving awards were Miss Pasalamat 2007 second runner-up Aprilyn Gustillo and third placer Tansy Elizabeth Delfin.

         Despite the heavy downpour spectators filled the stadium. The stage backdrop was spruced up on time to match the grand affair by the technical and production crew, including the lights and sounds. The show went on without a hitch. The pageant was capped by a fireworks display. ---ODU
