Roxol Bioeergy Corp., a subsidiary of the Roxas group of companies which also operates and manages Central Azucarera de La Carlota, Inc. launched its first community development activity March 3, 2010 at the CACI sports Club. It was attended by the top officers of Roxol - Luis Mari L. Zabaljauregui – VP-RM, Eduardo V. Concencion – CACI VP-RM, and Diony Caspe, Jr.-DM – HRMS, World Bank Senior Operations Officers Joe Tuyor and Maria Theresa P. Quiñones, and Holdings Inc. and Exec. Dir. Of Roxas Foundation, Inc. There were around 80 barangay constituents present together with employees of the sugar central. Barangay Captains Jacob E. Liansing –RSB, and Joel Senares – Nagasi, and their councilmen also attended. Mayor Demie John C. Honrado extended his felicitations and compliments through a representative. CARBON is an acronym for Community Assistance for the Rehabilitation and Building of barangays in Negros, A Roxol – funded program with a link to the World Bank which will provide partnership in the undertaking. The project will be initiated at Brgy. RSB, and into other outreaches later on. It will include among others, a community benefits plan which will establish people’s organization or cooperatives. Education is another component which will provide for vocational skills training, and assistance for elementary and high school students. Concerns on health will be covered by nutrition education and feeding program and medical services. The final aspect of the initiative plan is livelihood and income generation with the potential implementation of a micro lending scheme, and as much as feasible the project partner will be encouraged to engage in productive livelihood activities.---RGA |
