Sustainable Health Care Assured

La Carlota City is one of the advocates of a unified thrust in District IV which aims to ensure the continuous provision of supplies of commodities, drugs and services for current and future users and beneficiaries of maternal, neonatal, and nutrition services.

Since the materials for family planning are no longer supplied by the Department of Health (DOH) for the last five years, methodologies were geared towards contraceptive self-reliance (CSR).  This approach is similar with the rest of the other health service components that are regularly needed to exercise proper, proactive and well-planned health care programs that truly respond to the needs of the people.

In the city alone, the present health status is characterized by persisting maternal and neonatal deaths.  Increased immunized children coverage is still below the 95% standard in 2007 and 2008.  There is also a noted increase in the use of CSR, but still below the standard for the same periods.

The Local Health Board serves as the main committee to formulate the plan.  It undertakes program monitoring and evaluation mechanism, support in capacity building activities and education and counseling of clients.  Mayor Demie John C. Honrado is the chairman of the board.---CVL
