Youth Power ‘09

           The Sangguniang Kabataan Federation sponsored an SK Day Celebration dubbed as Youth Power ’09 last October 24, 2009 in coordination with the city government and the commission on Elections (COMELEC). Its theme was “Kabataan Para Sa Kinabukasan.”

           The affair was attended by the young people and their officials representing the different barangay. It began with the religious mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Jose Ember Tuesday Tiangson followed by the caravan within the city proper. SK Federation  Pres. Erwin B. Ponce, Jr. welcomed the guest and participants. He explained that the main goal of the program was to encourage youth registration so they can exercise their right of suffrage and participate in the electoral process in the 2010 national and local elections.

           Speakers during the symposium were Atty. Rudyard S. Hipe – COMELEC Registrar, who discussed the importance of the participation of every individual in the coming  elections since it will be the first time that automating voting will be implemented nationwide. The other resource speaker was Dr. Jose C. Lutao, principal of Yubo national high school. Also present were SPMs Ciriaco D. Sia, Jr, Jacob Liansing, and Manuel R. Badillo.
