New Barangay Public Plaza Inaugurated

 
 

           Gov. Isidro P. Zayco headed the list of provincial, city and barangay officials in the turn-over  and blessing of the new barangay La Granja public plaza last September 25, 2009 funded by the province in the total amount of P350,000. The ribbon-cutting was done by Gov. Zayco assisted by board member Jose Benito A. Alonso – 4th District, Mayor Demie John C. Honrado, and the barangay council headed by Nanette P. Escarsa .

           Rev. Fr. Tomas Tan of the St. Vincent Ferrer parish church officiated in the blessing of the plaza after which the governor and the city mayor gave their respective messages.  Pupils of the La Granja Elementary School and the La Granja National High School entertained the audience with a folkdance and pop dance, respectively.

            In the same occasion, the governor lauded the barangay Food-for-Work program sponsored by the city government in La Granja.  A total of 400 indigent families benefited from the project which was launched from July 1 – September 25.  The undertaking was made possible through the cooperative efforts of the governor and the provincial officials, Cong. Jeffrey P. Ferrer, and city officials of La Carlota.

            Meanwhile, four members of the barangay tanod received recognition awards for their heroic deed during the rescue and relief operations for victims of a fllod that affected residents of Puroks 2, 4 and 6 living along the banks of the Najalin River which also traverse Had. Palencia.

                                                        
           Tanods Antonio Bendol, Tomas Manalo, Elpidio Villanueva and Rudy Villamil bravely helped in the evacuation of 28 families to safer ground as the floodwaters rose, risking their own lives in the performance of duty….CGC
