City Honors Senior Citizens

           The Senior Citizens Week an annual event honoring the elderly members of the community was observed last October 19-23, 2009 under the theme “Nakakatanda Dangal ng Bayan Noon at Ngayon.”  It was initiated by the CSWDO and led by OSCA president Romeo L. Timson.  The opening program was held at the Ultrea House of the Our Lady of Peace Parish.

           Mayor Demie John C. Honrado emphasized in his message that age is not a limit to usefulness and doing something to encourage others.  “Your sense of purpose and the will to achieve makes you worthy indeed of the recognition Dangal ng Bayan,” he stressed.  He also challenged the OSCA members to continue to work towards the goal of good citizenship and a better community.  Also present in the occasion was SPM Rose L. Aguirre, SP chairman of the Committee on Senior Citizens.  She extended her gratitude to the city mayor for his unending support for the betterment of the local senior citizens.
