Annual Festival of Lights Opens

           The much awaited annual Christmas Festival of Lights and Music which is part of the city’s celebration of the Yule Season opened last December 14, 2009 with Mayor Demie John c. Honrado leading the occasion.  He was joined by Sangguniang Panlungsod members Luis J. Jalandoni III, Rose L. Aguirre, Rex R. Jalando-on, Julian M. Chiang, Ruel G. Alvañez, Zaldy C. Pernito, Ciriaco D. Sia, Jr., Jeffrey E. Rumbines, Jun-jun Sicangco, Jacob E. Liansing and SK Federation President Erwin Ponce Jr.

           Rev. Fr. Julian Bermejo of the Our Lady of Peace Parish rendered the opening prayer.  Christmas songs were given by the La Carlota City College faculty choir.  Among those that joined the opening night with special numbers were the Emmanuel Baptist Church School, Mama’s Love Kindergarten School and the Maranatha Kinder School.

           With hundreds of enthusiastic people present and with festive children romping all over the plaza Mayor Honrado officially declared the celebration open, highlighted by the switching on of lights around the city plaza and the City Hall building.—RGA
